BREAKING NEWS: Tremors rock Newcastle and country

The tremors from a 5.3 magnitude earthquake were felt over a large expanse of the country including Bloemfontein, Durban and Johannesburg, where the tremors lasted for longer than a minute.

Residents from Hutten Heights, Lennoxton the CBD area and suburbs closer to the industrial area have reported feeling slight tremors.

The source and origin of the movement, which was felt in areas of Johannesburg right through to Durban, is unknown.

However, a news report by ENCA has claimed the origin to be from 20 kilometres outside of Orkney, which is about 160 kilometres outside of Johannesburg. Reportedly, the tremors were measured at an F magnitude, and no injuries have been reported so far.
