Death toll rises in Ladysmith accidents

MEC for Transport Willies Mchunu expresses concern about the high number of accidents in Ladysmith

After the horrific accident on Sunday afternoon near Pepworth (on the N11 just outside Ladysmith) that claimed six lives and left four people seriously injured, the high accident rate in Ladysmith prompted MEC for Transport Willies Mchunu to express his deep concern about the situation in Ladysmith.

He promised a full investigation into the accident.

This was followed by another accident on the N11 involving a vehicle travelling to Ladysmith in the early hours of Monday morning, leaving one person dead and three injured (according to KZN EMS media liaison officer Robert McKenzie).

Last night (Monday) saw another accident on the N11 passing through Ladysmith, where a bakkie rolled at the robots opposite Ladysmith Panelbeaters. Two people sustained moderate injuries. The N11 was closed for 45 minutes while the wreckage was removed.
