Cansa moves ahead
“It’s a real privilege to host the CANSA caregiver breakfast. We will also be hosting a Cuppa for CANSA on September 27,” she said.

Not many in today’s society can say their lives have never been touched by cancer.
Among those affected, the ever-important caregiver also needs to be recognised for the role they play in the lives of those in need. Last week marked a week-long initiative to recognise caregivers, and honour their commitment to cancer patients.
“People often don’t realise how important the caregiver is to the life of a cancer patient. They are the unsung heroes,” said CANSA Community Mobiliser Estella Naicker.
“CANSA wanted to give caregivers the opportunity to relax in a social environment.”
On Tuesday August 5, caregivers and their families were treated to personalised breakfasts, courtesy of Factory Plaza.
Factory Plaza Manager, Cornalee van der Westhuizen, is no stranger to the dangers of cancer, after losing friends and family to the disease. “It’s a real privilege to host the CANSA caregiver breakfast. We will also be hosting a Cuppa for CANSA on September 27,” she said.
Aside from the breakfast, the Factory Plaza team showered CANSA visitors with gifts and lots of love.
On Sunday community members joined CANSA to form a support group committee that will meet once a month to address members’ concerns.
“The group will provide a location for survivors, caregivers and patients to meet in a safe environment, where they can really get to grips with overcoming their cancers,” concluded Ms Naicker.
Nutritionist, Jandri Barnard, and motivational speaker, Rashida Patel imparted valuable advice to attendees.
Ms Naicker conveyed CANSA’s thanks to staff of Mediclinic Newcastle for their generosity.
