Town-wide electricity outage blamed on private contractors

"They dig holes, repair burst pipes and expand roads without getting a permit from us so we can tell them where the power cables are"

Yesterday’s town-wide electricity outage has been blamed on private contractors who accidentally cut the town’s power.

“They dig holes, repair burst pipes and expand roads without getting a permit from us so we can tell them where the power cables are,” said a municipal source.

A contractor hooked a cable with his TLB near a main substation, cutting the town’s electricity.

Normally the outages are area specific, but in this case it took a while for municipal workers to figure out where the problem was and to solve it by re-routing the supply through other areas.

Three such breakages have occurred in the last week.
