Diesel worth R10 000 stolen

AS SOUTH Africans and businesses feel the brunt of surging fuel prices, the Vryheid SAPS would like to warn community members to be aware that diesel skimming – theft of fuel from trucks – is expected to see a significant increase in both frequency and quantities stolen
from trucks.
With larger trucks holding anything from 300 litres of diesel at an average cost of R3 400 per tank, criminals will stop at nothing to get their hands on it.
The warning was issued following a case that was reported by a local business on Friday, August 15.
According to this company, 700 litres of petrol, valued at R10 000, was pumped out of three trucks while they were parked in their yard.
No arrests have yet been made but the SAPS would like to warn locals to be very careful and to alert the police if they see anyone committing such a crime.
