Sangoma’s ‘missing man’ search called-off
A body dumped in a dam will surface in a few days at most.
The search for the body of a missing person which took place earlier today has been called-off by police.
The K9 Unit team consisting of Warrant Officer, Jacques Meyer and his dog, Gessie (a specially trained rescue search dog) had spent the morning searching dams in the Hobsland area for any indication of the body of a missing man. This after a Sangoma informed the man’s son he would find his missing dad in a water source close to his homestead.
According to experts, if a body sinks below the surface of any water source, it will resurface in the next few days. It usually takes a body 4 – 7 days to resurface as a result of the formation of gas in the body tissue due to decaying.
Police have therefore decided to wait for any body that may be in the dams to naturally resurface.
