While some believe that a leader is born and not made, some may argue that motivation and moulding may produce a person of star quality.
And this is a mission that David Allen and Alfred Eden have undertaken as they meet, teach and learn with dozens of young men and women in Europe.
The duo made a second trip in July after they were invited to present leadership courses to youngsters poised to be leaders.
In York they presented a talk to teenagers from the Village Camps Leadership Programme and in Leysin they interacted with young minds from the Young Presidents Organisation. David and Alfred focus their talks on current issues that plague teens world wide.
So topics like stress, respect, making a good impression and what makes a good leader were well received by the audience.
“We found that there was a big need to discuss the topic of stress because even teenagers have so much going on so they feel the pressure. We focused on time management and how doing one thing at a time with regular breaks improves your capacity to execute the task properly,” explained David. Their leadership talks were so well received by the audience that an invitation was extended for a third visit next year.
David and Alfred have also been invited to deliver their leadership talks to children from impoverished backgrounds. A university in Canada is facilitating this.
In addition to the leadership talks, David also provided training to the Geneva police where his mixed martial arts background assisted in developing take down techniques and tactics.
