Ladysmith police captain honoured at retirement celebration
Friends, family and SAPS colleagues gathered to honour Captain Henry Mazibuko's distinguished career.
After 36 years of dedicated service in the South African Police Service (SAPS), Captain Henry Mazibuko has officially begun a new chapter of his life, leaving behind a legacy of experience, friendships and valuable lessons.
His retirement was celebrated last Friday (October 9) at the Royal Hotel, where colleagues, friends and family gathered to honour his long-standing contribution to the police service.
A career built on dedication
Mazibuko began his policing career in Weenen and was promoted to warrant officer in 1996, a rank he held for 20 years before advancing to captain.
Reflecting on his time in Ladysmith, he described his experience at the station as enjoyable, particularly his time working with D-Shift, where he built lasting relationships and treasured memories.
A message to the next generation
As he prepares for retirement, Mazibuko encouraged younger police officers to prioritise their studies, take responsibility for their careers and never be afraid to aim high.
He reminded them that the future leadership of the SAPS rests in their hands, urging them to work hard, continue learning and prepare for greater responsibilities.
A farewell to remember
The celebration was attended by Station Commander Brigadier Mngadi, Support Head Colonel Khumalo, Detective Commander Colonel Shabalala and Mrs Mazibuko.
In recognition of his years of service, Mazibuko received a gift before the guests enjoyed lunch, followed by music, dancing and fond memories shared among colleagues.
