Top Museum Passport students awarded
The project was to motivate pupils to visit museums and heritage centres, with their passports allowing them free access.
On March 27, students were handed their passports to a whole new world; the world of heritage, museums and art.

On Friday, August 22 the prize giving was held for the initiative at the Town Hall.
Speaking from the lectern, a jovial Dolly Khumalo, Senior Manager of Museum Services in KwaZulu – Natal, told pupils about the important
effect of the project on the development of relationships between museums and schools.
“To see a close-working relationship between museum services and the education department has always been a dream for us,” she said.
“This project has afforded us the opportunity to realise this dream, and we know now, more than ever, that this complementary relationship
must not be severed.”
Mrs Khumalo explained a survey would be conducted to see if the marks of the pupils who participated in the project had improved in any way.
“Otherwise the exercise would be pointless,” she explained.
Both Mrs Khumalo and Judy Jordan, curator of the Carnegie Art Gallery, were disappointed one from local council had been present to show support for the event.
Xolani High School walked away with the main prize comprising of a laptop computer and data projector Museum Services would install.
“Today we are going to acknowledge all those people who made the Museum Passport project great,” said Mrs Khumalo. “And a special thank you to all the pupils who showed the interest to take part.”
