Two killed as faction fighting erupts again?

A hail of bullets tore through the bakkie, killing the driver and a passenger who were seated in the front of the vehicle

Two people were killed in a drive-by shooting on Thursday night along the Colenso Road, believed to be part of faction fighting in the Ladysmith area. It is alleged that a vehicle travelling along the Colenso Road in the Roosboom area drove past a bakkie and opened fire on the occupants.

A hail of bullets tore through the bakkie, killing the driver and a passenger who were seated in the front of the vehicle. They died at the scene.

The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. One of the deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Thokozane Emmanuel Gamede. The second deceased has yet to be officially identified.

Ladysmith detectives are investigating a case of murder.
