IT WAS a special day for young fans of Lollos, when the well known creature from Lalaland visited Vryheid for two performances at the Lucas Meyer Primary School hall on August 23.

Alta Joubert and Minki Burger, both mothers and the creators of the popular children’s show, decided that there is just not enough modern, colorful and interactive entertainment for their children in Afrikaans. So Lollos originated in 2008 with the release of their first CD, and went on to win a SAMA Award in 2011.

The songs on the CD and DVD, as well as the live performances are fun and funky. Young and old will certainly not be able to sit still during the upbeat music.

There is, of course, always something to be learned by the young audience, such as the alphabet; counting; days of the week; healthy eating and exercise. Lollos, Lettie, Minki and Disco entertained the children consistently, from the start of the show, right until the final curtain, and even after the show when the little ones were invited onstage to have photos taken with their favourite creatures from Lalaland.

Steven Bosman, who was responsible for bringing this popular show to Vryheid, would like to thank everyone who supported the show, as well as those who helped behind the scenes and Lucas Meyer Primary School for the use of their hall.
