Bullets fly at local hostel

A Mbube security official had a narrow escape last night after a number of bullets were fired through his bedroom window.

Douglas Buthelezi, who resides at the Sibongile Family Unit Hostel, was in his room when gunmen opened fire.

One of the bullets also shattered his bakkie’s window.

Mr Buthelezi said that minutes before the shooting, he received a call about diesel theft in town. The caller insisted that he should go check.

He reported the matter, however, to the Mbube office to investigate.

Mr Buthelezi believes the caller was just trying to lure him out into the open.

The motive for the shooting is still unclear. Police are investigating the matter.
