Over the past few weeks, Colita residents were unable to be at ease as criminal activities have been on a high.
As spring has sprung so has the concerns of many Colita residents. The residents have turned to the Restore Order Committee (ROC) to come to their rescue. ROC called an urgent community meeting on Wednesday, September 17 at the Colita Community Hall, to find solutions to decrease the sudden and fast growing crime in Colita.

Both concerned and affected residents were given a platform to express themselves and suggest constructive solutions on how overcome the matter of importance. Issues that relate to drug abuse, housebreak -ins and other related criminal behaviour were addressed at the meeting. Colita residents were raging with anger. One mother who was affected by the criminal activity in the area said that something needs to be done soon.

It was said that since many community members have witnessed these criminal activities taking place, have become fully aware of who it is committing these offences, as their very own youth are involved in these crimes. A concerned parent encouraged attendants to help their children seek help before ‘it’s to late. “We do not want to visit our children in hospitals and jails or even worse the graveyard.”
One other community member who tried making sense of the unjust acts questioned the residents: “Everyone is trying to make ends meet to enjoy luxury, only for it to be stolen. How do we as a community move forward and develop ourselves?” “Do not wait to be affected by these criminal activities to do something about it, said ROC Chairperson Bradley Trollip.
