Dundee SAPS accused of assaulting foreign national
Foreign national allegedly beaten up by police officers.

Claims of police brutality have been levelled against two members of the Dundee SAPS. This follows after an alleged attack on Ethiopian national, Hameed Kabde, on the night of October 8.
“I was assaulted by two police officers in McKenzie Street. When I asked why they hitting me, they did not respond and later threw me out of a moving vehicle in Gladstone Street”, said Hameed.
He is being treated at Dundee Hospital but is under police guard.
Dundee SAPS Station Commissioner, Colonel Makhubu, said that the matter had been brought to his attention and is being investigated by IPD.
It is also alleged that Hameed assaulted a police officer and as a result was taken into police custody.
Charges of failure to produce a permit and one of assault of a police officer have been opened against Hameed.
He further alleged that according the officers involved the complainant jumped out of the vehicle and had not been pushed.
A case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened against the police.
