Lies, fraud, defamation and tender collusion – report out on municipal ‘racist e-mail’

The report has yet to be tabled in front of Council but Speaker Mdluli has revealed that municipal official Desiga Padayachee has been exonerated from any wrong doing

Explosive details of an attempt to label a municipal official as ‘racist’, tender collusion and possible fraud are contained in a report on a Council-appointed probe into the racist e-mail that rocked Endumeni Municipality in May.
While the report, which the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) mandated, still has to be tabled in front of Council. Speaker Siduduzo Mdluli confirmed that the probe found that official Desiga Padayachee had not sent the e-mail, which contained racist language and insulted councillors. The e-mail was distributed around town and within the municipal building.
