Six suspects arrested for possession of drugs
Following investigation, a house in the area was identified and searched and 19 Mandrax tablets and 20 parcels of dagga were found.
Six suspects were arrested in Dannhauser over the weekend as part of the Festive Operations plan. The arrested suspects are due to appear in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court.
A joint crime-driven intelligence operation was conducted by Dundee Crime Intelligence, Newcastle K9 Unit and SAPS Dannhauser detectives on Saturday, October 25 in Dannhauser. Following investigation, a house in the area was identified and searched and 19 Mandrax tablets and 20 parcels of dagga were found. Two suspects were arrested and charged for possession of drugs. A further follow-up was conducted and more arrests were made. Suspects were found in possession of cocaine, dagga and Mandrax tablets. The total street value of the recovered drugs is estimated at R13 750.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the joint operation that led to the arrest of the suspects.
“We appeal to the community to work together with the police during the coming festive season by providing information that will lead to the arrest of drug dealers in our province,” she said.
