Motorist narrowly escapes serious injury

"The truck driver swerved out of the way and the bakkie hit the back of it and landed on the road barriers. If the truck driver had not swerved, they would have hit head-on,”

A motorist travelling on the N11 narrowly escaped serious injury when he lost control of his vehicle.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon, November 13, when the motorist’s vehicle slipped on the wet road and veered into the oncoming traffic lane.

A traffic official on scene said things would have taken a turn for the worse if the truck driver in the oncoming lane had not swerved proactively.

“The truck driver swerved out of the way and the bakkie hit the back of it and landed on the road barriers. If the truck driver had not swerved, they would have hit head-on,” he said.

The motorist sustained minor injuries and was taken to Madadeni Provincial Hospital for further evaluation.
