A complaint was issued to the Vryheid Herald regarding the vagrant that camps at the Greyhound bus stop in President Street yesterday.
According to this resident the place looks unhygienic and sends off a negative message about the town to those passing by.

Locals voiced out their various opinions regarding the matter on the Vryheid Herald’s Facebook page.

The Vryheid Herald contacted the municipality to enquire about this matter and was informed that the police and local businesses have teamed up to tackle this issue.

It is said that there are currently seven vagrants in town and that officials are arranging to find them a place at a shelter in Newcastle as Vryheid currently does not have a homeless shelter.
According to the police, the people cannot be put away in a prison cell as this is against constitutional laws.
The police and local businesses are hoping that the community will work together with them to build a place of safety for these people in future.
