An afternoon of slight drizzle and wind is completely normal during this season, what wasn’t very normal was when the slight wind swept the roof sheets off the taxi rank in Weenen onto the road yesterday afternoon. A number of vehicles have been damaged.
Mr A Majola is the owner of an Isuzu 2.2 van. Mr A Majola is one of the many whose vehicle got damaged when the roof of the taxi rank detached itself. At the time Mr A Majola was on his way home after work when the roof sheets violently obstructed the road in the process shattering windscreens of vehicles passing by.
“The residents of Weenen were both shocked and distressed and fled the scene in fear,” recalled Mr A Majola. “I want answers, I want to know who is going to pay for the damages, my van is what brings in the money I need to live off, ” said the unsettled Mr A Majola
Councillor Mthembeni Majola would like the municipality of Umtshezi to act with the utmost urgency and report to the service providers and investigate the incident.Both Councillor L Gericke and Councillor M Majola share the concern as to why weren’t the metal sheets securely nailed to the supporting bars.No injuries have been reported at this point.
