Name: Hannah Ho
Age: 19
Give a brief description of what you are currently doing: I am a Grade 12 pupil at Ferrum High School.

In what year did you enter Miss Newcastle? 2013

Why did you enter Miss Newcastle? After entering and competing in the pageant would you recommend that other young girls should enter? Miss Newcastle is an opportunity, a challenge and a chance for personal growth. I recommend that young girls participate because it really brings out the best in people and uncovers their true potential.

How do you think that entering Miss Newcastle has changed your life? I wouldn’t say it has changed my life in particular, but it has definitely changed my perspective on certain things. I realised that a beauty pageant  isn’t solely about beauty; character and qualities matter too.

What were some of the biggest challenges you  experienced throughout the competition? Compared to many of the other contestants, I was just a disastrously inexperienced plain Jane.

Do you think that some of these challenges changed into strengths by the end of the competition? Yes I do. Because of the challenges, I became more observant; I learnt from others. I would say my plain Jane qualities are what made me unique.

What was the most memorable part of competing in Miss Newcastle? Having to walk the ramp in designer, Kevin Ellis’s dress was just WOW!

What have you gained from taking part in the competition? How do you think this will benefit you going forward? All the glitz and glamour seen on stage for a few minutes required days of hard work and effort. This is true of any presentation. In order to present something complete and  perfect, patience, hard work and endurance are essential. Rome wasn’t build in a day!
