Pupils’ “choking game” ends in hospital

12-year-old pupil rushed to hospital in a traumatised condition

A 12-year-old pupil from a primary school in Ladysmith was hurt in a so-called “choking game” outside the school.

Two children were believed to be playing the game when one of the children was choked to the point of passing out.

Parents who were at the scene waiting to pick up their children, witnessed the game’s horrifying outcome and notified the school, who called an ambulance.

When Sharaj Ambulance Services paramedics arrived, the 12-year-old boy was still unconscious but in a stable condition.

He was rushed to La Verna Hospital in a traumatised condition.

The other pupil involved in the “choking game” is believed to have left the scene before paramedics arrived.
