Peter Pan needs funds to fly
The community is invited to support the bootsale on the day and can also donate old items to Child Welfare to be sold.
Child Welfare will be holding a bootsale on November 29.
Set to take place at Impuphu Wholesalers parking lot from 9am, residents will be able to shop around for used clothes, books, crockery, appliances, ornaments and other curios.
Funds raised at the bootsale will go towards Child Welfare’s pre-school, Peter Pan.
Jackie Shongwe, school principal, explained Peter Pan relied heavily on the community’s support.
“The school does not have funds and we are facing a few challenges,” she claimed.
She said one of the challenges the school faced, was vandalism.
“Nearby community members vandalise the school’s equipment and we need funds to repair the damage.”
Funds were also required to help in the daily running of the school.
With 44 children in the school’s care, Miss Shongwe said several of the children came from disadvantaged families in Siyahlala-la.
“Some of the children don’t have a set structure and at the school, we give them two meals per day and an education,” she said.
