Man dies in R34 accident

A light duty vehicle travelling on the R34 towards Memel overturned on February 7, leaving one dead and two injured.
According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle about 10km from Newcastle, causing it to overturn and plummet down an embankment.
One man, apparently ejected from the vehicle, was declared dead on scene by paramedics from Emergency Services.
“He was lying about 100 metres from the vehicle,” said ER24 Paramedic, Myra van der Merwe. “We proceeded to treat another passenger who sustained moderate injuries and transported him to Madadeni Provincial Hospital for further care.”
Another patient, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to hospital by Emergency Services.
The exact cause of the incident is yet to be disclosed.
Motorists are urged to remain vigilant at all times.
