BREAKING NEWS: Two vehicles overturned at R34 ‘Stop-and-Go’

The driver of the first vehicle allegedly failed to see the stop sign in time.

Two vehicles overturned near a ‘stop-and-go’ site on the R34 late last night.

One vehicle was allegedly towing the other towards Vrede when the incident occurred.

The driver of the first vehicle allegedly failed to see the stop sign in time, forcing him to perform an emergency stop.

Both vehicles subsequently overturned.

“ER24 responded from Newcastle and found one driver, and a passenger sustained injuries,” said ER24 Newcastle Paramedic, Jan-Henk Van Vuuren. “Both men were stabilised on scene and transported to Vrede Hospital for further care.”

The exact cause of the incident is unclear at this stage.

Police investigations continue.
