Sithembile community protests against councillor

The councillor must resign as 'she cares not for the people' as she have her own camps...

Streets blocked, rubbish scattered on the streets, broken alcohol bottles and burning tyres are all what remain after a hectic night in Sithembile, Glencoe.
The township was turned into a no-go area on Monday after mainly young people took to the streets to burn tyres, block roads and sing protest songs.
This after local Councillor, Lungile Mbhele, was accused of only choosing her ‘people to work on a Transnet project in the area’.
The youth, who set tyres on fire, said they are being ignored in favour of ‘selected people’.
The protest was sparked after a meeting that was to have been chaired by Mayor Mahaye and Councillor Mbhele did not materialise.
This was because the meeting was not announced, it was claimed. The Mayor and the Councillor told the community that there would be another meeting today.
Newcastle Public Order Police were called to assess the situation and later they dispersed the crowd by firing rubber bullets at them. A number of people were injured as a result.
