The traffic light worked and then it didn’t…

Off, on, off, on - Arrive Alive just can get off the ground in Dundee...

Following yesterday’s rejoicing over the fixed Tatham, Union and Karelandman Streets traffic lights, the jubilation was quickly replaced by irritation.

The traffic lights were fixed at about 1.30pm by contractors from Durban hired by the Provincial Transport Department.  However, by 6.3opm the lights were back to their old tricks and were just flashing red.

FC Bester of the Endumeni Residents’ Association, said he now had no choice but to mobilise his members and go ahead and fix the traffic lights himself next Sunday, March 22.  Evidently the first threat prompted the Transport Department to send out their contractors.  Alas, perhaps the local folk should now have a bash at fixing the pesky robots…

Mr Bester said he had spoken this morning to the director of Zama Traffic Signals, the contractors, who promised to back tomorrow to fix said lights………..
