What to expect from Curro St Dominic’s

Last year, St Dominic’s Academy was purchased by independent school group, Curro Holdings.

Following this development, Curro president, Chris van der Merwe, addressed the community about the future of Curro St Dominic’s Academy. last week.

He said while Curro was a national company, its quality objectives did not change and the group would ensure the school still achieved its quality schooling performances.

“At Curro we want our pupils to get the best in education and be the best they possibly can.”

With this acquisition, the school will see quite a number of developments in the coming months and years.

The redevelopment of the tennis courts, new classrooms and an Astro Turf court are just a few of the initiatives the school has undertaken.

“One of the initiatives we are very excited about, is the robotics centre we will be introducing. At Curro we have developed teaching styles and ideas that will ensure our pupils have a leg up on others and this is just one of the ways we will use to do this.”

Mr van der Merwe gave the opportunity to the floor to ask questions and voice concerns.

One of the concerns raised was separate Afrikaans classes advertised by the school.

“The school had decided to offer these lessons a few years ago. We can assure parents there will be a high level of education throughout the school’s classes,” concluded principal, John Douthwaite.
