Failure to stop ends in disaster
A gentleman at the scene commented that his wife and niece had been travelling in the taxi when the accident occurred and that, while his wife had sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision, his niece's legs had been broken.

The intersection of the R34 and the bypass near the Lakeside crossing was abuzz with police and paramedics on Saturday morning, April 4.
The cause of the chaos was an accident which took place after the driver of an Opel allegedly failed to stop at the Stop sign, resulting in a collision between a police vehicle, the Opel in question and a taxi.
According to police at the scene, the police vehicle was travelling along the R34 in the direction of Melmoth and the taxi was travelling on the R34 towards Vryheid when the collision occurred. Having failed to stop, the Opel was hit by the police vehicle and came to rest near the sign board across the road.
The taxi, which appeared to have sustained the most damage in the accident, was then hit by the police vehicle. A gentleman at the scene commented that his wife and niece had been travelling in the taxi when the accident occurred and that, while his wife had sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision, his niece’s legs had been broken.
According to a source at the scene, 14 patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries, while one patient’s condition was critical.
