12 injured in taxi crash

Five of the twelve passengers were seriously injured

Eighteen people were injured in separate accidents in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Services’ Spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie says in the first accident, twelve people were injured when a minibus taxi overturned on the R74, also known as Old Dundee Road, near Greytown in Pietermaritzburg.

Mr Mckenzie says the taxi had rolled about four metres down an embankment. “Five of the twelve passengers were seriously injured”,  he said.

In another incident, five men were seriously injured when the car they were traveling in crashed into a barrier wall at the Oribi Toll Plaza, near Portshepstone, on the South Coast.

Meanwhile, a teenage biker was seriously injured after crashing into a pedestrian on Marine Drive at St. Michaels in the South Coast.
