Rubber-neckers jam up around truck and car smash

The truck appears to have accidentally clipped and dragged the car while turning from Victoria into Willson Street. Police had their hands full in keeping the large crowd at bay.

Rubber-neckers had a field day this evening when a double-axle truck scooped up a Tazz on the corner of Victoria and Willson Streets, causing the smaller vehicle to become jammed under the giant.

Miraculously, the driver of the CA –registered Tazz – which belongs to second-car dealer and businessman, Shiraz Ismail, was not injured.

He had the presence of mind to climb out of the passenger door as the driver’s side of the car was jammed under the truck, owned by Hein Potgieter, a local farmer.

A large crowd of curious onlookers gathered – each with a plan as to how to ‘unjam’ the Tazz.

Eventually, paramedics and panel beater, Preshu Singh, stepped in to cut away a portion of the car with rescue equipment to allow the driver’s side to be freed from under the truck.
