In an effort to safeguard pupils, S.E. Vawda Primary School held a safety awareness day last Thursday.
“We want our children to be aware of safety, as we have had one or two children die in the past due to a lack of road safety awareness,” Themba Mgaga, school principal, said.
Traffic officers from Protection Services, Paramedics from ER24, as well as police officers educated pupils on various aspects regarding road and personal safety..
To raise awareness in the community, the pupils marched down Lincoln Road, Montague and Bird streets and encouraged residents to be more vigilant on the road.
