When Subhadra Naidoo (8), a grade three scholar at Forderville Primary School, decided to do some sharing, she did not expect anything in return. She was pleasantly surprised when her Principal, Mr A Sookraj, informed her that she was awarded the PicknPay School Club ‘You are our hero’ certificate for her selfless acts of valour and her ability to inspire others.

Growing-up with Barney as her favourite toy, Subhadra believes in ‘sharing is caring’ and likes to see smiles of happiness on other people’s faces. Motivated by her Principal’s Challenge to perform ‘service above self’, Subhadra decided to donate her old school clothes to the school to give to a needy scholar.

She also decided that, as her birthday is on November 29, she pledged that on the 29th of each month, she will provide sandwiches for about 16 pupils at her school. Subhadra’s motto is ‘aspire to inspire’ and says that she hopes to make the world a better place by performing one small act of kindness at a time.
