Sport vs Vryheid Landbou
This previous Wednesday, April 29, Sarel Cilliers High School played sport against Vryheid Landbou. With lots of determination and will-power, the boys walked off the field as winners. The scores are as follow: U/14s: 60-7; U/15s: 27-7; Second Team: 63-5.
After playing against Vryheid Landbou the previous weekend at a tournament hosted by Pongola High School, the first team showed up and played outstanding running rugby to once again prove their dominance in the Northern Natal Rugby League.
Their final score was 69-12. Well done boys, the school is proud of you.
Rugby vs Newcastle High School
Sarel Cilliers Lions roar loudly after a successful weekend of fantastic running rugby against their opposing Newcastle Tigers.
The ‘never surrender’ attitude in the boys’ hearts made many a heart swell with pride at the sight of brilliant rugby being played. Perfect weather conditions and plenty of crowd support made for this day to be remembered.
The U14s beat Newcastle comprehensively with a score of 58-7, and, not to be outdone, the U15s also beat their opponents 53-12. The U16s had a close contest and ended the game the better side with a score of 14-12. The third team who played against Newcastle’s Second Team were very unfortunate to walk away with a loss of 19-12 but still showed tremendous spirit on the field. The second team played against Tugela High School’s first team and played excellent rugby ending their game on a score of 63-15.
Then the big battle of the day started as the first teams entered the Lion’s Den to determine who is the best. Sarel Cilliers faced a mammoth task as Newcastle was absolutely relentless on attack and was behind on the score board 16-13 at half-time.
The second half saw the Sarel boys switch into a different mindset though and they totally outclassed their opponents by scoring a comprehensive victory of 46-16.
