Swimmers from Ferrum High School recently qualified to participate in the national and regional championships at the end of the first term.
The following swimmers qualified for the Level 2 gala which took place in Sasolburg: Rudie Siecker, Francois Viviers, Ruan Janse van Vuuren, Ruben Nortje, Skye van der Merwe, Ingrid Groenewald and Cameron Fraser.
Skye and Ingrid received gold medals and Cameron received two bronze medals.
Cameron also participated in the 7,5km ‘freedom swim’ from Robben Island to Bloubergstrand, in waters of plus minus nine degrees Celsius. He completed the race in two hours and 40 minutes.
The following swimmers participated on the Level 1 gala in Durban:
Cornel-Mari van der Merwe, Dané Kotze, Arno van Zyl who received three gold medals and Francois Viviers who received three gold medals as well as a silver and bronze medal.
