It’s a scam – Motorists beware

Be careful as to who you give your details to at an accident and who you allow to tow your car! Insurances have specific towing services contracted to tow for them.

A concerned citizen writes: “Attention all motorists! Should you be in an accident, please do not just give your car to any breakdown or towing service.

Phone your insurance and let them send out an accredited towing company. It has come to our attention that there are towing companies who take cars from accidents with fake order numbers! They say that they will phone your insurance, but they don’t! They phone someone in their own office, who then pretends to be from your insurance company. They make you believe that all is fine and that these people may take your vehicle. IT’S A SCAM!

At the end of the day you must pay them out of your own pocket to get your vehicle back!

Be careful as to who you give your details to at an accident and who you allow to tow your car! Insurances have specific towing services contracted to tow for them. Don’t become a victim! Do it the right way by phoning your insurance yourself and they will call a towing service or breakdown for you.”
