In April, five Newcastle High School pupils took part in a science competition at Tswane University of Technology.
For the first time ever, NHS pupils competed in Architecture and Electronics.
The pupils who entered the architecture division scooped first place the category for their model of a gazebo.
The pupils who entered the electronics category, built a four-way traffic light that worked according to timing. “We were awarded for our outstanding display in this category,” said Naresh Singh, NHS Technology teacher.
Mr Singh said NHS would be hosting a science and technology expo during third term. “We would like to invite all science and technology students to join us. Remember, Newcastle High is a school of excellence.”
