Eco-Quiz
On Saturday, May 23, two teams represented Sarel Cilliers in a quiz held in Durban. The participants were N Ngema, J Kajee, T Raghoobeer and S Mathobela.
These learners showed might and passion for the environment. Competition seemed to be tough but the teams persevered and shone until round two. Congratulations to both teams. There were 79 teams from all over KwaZulu-Natal, but only four were chosen for the finals – Sarel Cilliers included. You have done your school proud!
Hockey against Vryheid
U/14 lost 0-1; U/16 lost 0-6; Second Team drew 1-1; First Team won 1-0.
Boys: Second Team won 4-0; First Team lost 0-3.
Chess against Vryheid
Sarel played ten matches against Vryheid and won five. The winners were as follows: S Tooray, L Zulu, B Moodley, T Qwabe and S Themba. Well done!
Netball vs Vryheid High School
On Saturday, May 23 the teams travelled to Vryheid to participate. The netball teams did their best and the first team had a nail-biting match which ended in Vryheid’s favour. The scores are as follows: U14A: 16-23, U14B: 2-19, U15A: 6-30, U15B: 4-25, U16A: 22-12, U16B: 17-10, Second : 6-19, First :18-19.
Sarel Cilliers rugby vs Vryheid
All the rugby teams who played, had their work cut out for them and with a few hard fought battles managed to win all of their games the scores were as follow: U14 win 33-5; U15 win 19-0; u16 win 15-8; Second Team win 50-14.
The first team had their toughest game so far in this season and were placed under severe pressure from the kick-off. ‘Never surrender’, the words that mean so much to our boys, played a big part in their fight to claim a nerve-wrecking win of 24-22.
This Saturday Sarel Cilliers takes on Dundee High in the annual Derby Day. Good luck to all of the sport teams participating, the school knows that you will make them proud.
