On Saturday, Khulisa hosted a tea for volunteers and supporters of the Gift Bags for Christmas, an initiative Khulisa has undertaken for the past four years.
Susan Theunissen, Khulisa’s Regional Manager, explained the purpose of the project was to give children items such as toiletries and a small sweet. “Last year, members knitted Teddy bears that were included in the bags and we would like to continue with this.”
Khulisa supports early childhood development and helps and develops crèches. “We have currently identified 12 local crèches who need help.”
Last year, Mrs Theunissen said 1300 gift bags were handed to less fortunate children.
“We are aiming for 1500 gift bags this year,” she said.
