Bakkie crashes and rolls – 17 passengers on board and six dead

Six people died in a crash between Nongoma and Vryheid last night.
KZN Emergency Medical Services (KZN EMS) attended the scene, and reported the bakkie had overturned.
The crash occurred on the R618.
“Sadly, six people have died in the crash and paramedics treated a further eleven patients,” said KZN EMS Spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie.
He explained most of the patients had sustained serious injuries, and had to be rushed to nearby medical centres for treatment.
“The patients were transported to local health institutions, including Vryheid Hospital, for continued medical care.”
Police are investigating the incident, and no indication has yet been made regarding the cause of the crash.
