Army breaks down doors as raids envelop Newcastle

Last night, a joint operation between the Military Police, South African Defense Force and police, saw homes and crime hot spots around Newcastle under the hammer.

The operation is part of a national project to clamp down on illegal narcotic trafficking and distribution, illegal weapons trade, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

Raids took place in areas including the Newcastle Taxi Rank, Tyson flats and Iscor flats.

The operation yielded success, as many suspects were found in possession of illegal weapons and drugs.

According to sources, many illegal immigrants have been deported as a result of this operation.
