Police weed out dagga on N3

The tightly-wrapped dagga parcels were packed into carry bags, while more loose dagga was being carried in a bucket

Police arrested 3 suspects yesterday (Wednesday) on the N3 for possession of dagga.

Ladysmith police were patrolling along the N3 when they spotted 3 people along the highway. The officers searched them and discovered a large quantity of dagga in their possession.

The tightly-wrapped dagga parcels were packed into carry bags, while more loose dagga was being carried in a bucket.

The dagga weighed in at over 17kg and has an estimated street value of around R17,000.

The 3 suspects, aged between 23 and 35, were arrested and are set to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today.

The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, congratulated Ladysmith police on the arrests, saying, “We are always pleased when we remove any drugs off our streets, as we know we are minimising the effects of drugs on our society.”
