The Executive of Curro Roodeplaat in Pretoria has denied any sign of racial segregation at the school.

In a letter published by the Pretoria north Rekord addressed to parents and guardians, John Bissett said that a group of Grade Rs were transported in two buses ( a 65 seater and a 30 seater) to Setshaba Safaris earlier this month.
Three English classes were transported in the 65-seater, with class sizes being 17, 17 and 18. Two Afrikaans classes were transported in the 30-seater with class sizes being 13 and 11.
“A video taken of this outing showed the various groups of pupils and with no explanation assumed that the groupings were organised according to race,” said Bissett.
The reason behind these false accusations is believed to be because Curro schools offer all their pupils the choice of being taught in English of Afrikaans.
In the letter, Bissett pointed out that 42 Curro schools across the country provided education to more than 36 000 pupils of which more than 66% were black.
In conclusion he said that the division was legitimately based on the language preference of the class.
