Emergency teams rush to Pomeroy fire as response is intensified

Emergency teams, including Endumeni’s Fire Brigade and Disaster Management teams, have rushed to Pomeroy to assist with a reported fire.

Emergency teams raced this morning to Pomeroy after a fire broke out in the town’s business area. Endumeni’s Fire Brigade and Disaster Management teams among those deployed to assist.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Thulasizwe Buthelezi has directed the immediate deployment of emergency response teams following reports of the fire.

Endumeni Disaster Manager, Phumlanni Ntombela, said two shops were affected by the fire. “Thanks to the swift response we managed to contain the fire. There have been no reports of injuries at this stage.”

Situation being monitored

CoGTA said it is closely monitoring developments and will provide further updates as official reports are received from emergency teams at the scene.
