Yoga instructor, Ashitha Beeharie, explained yoga was an interesting and fun way to stay fit and healthy.
Sunday, June 21, was International Yoga Day, which provided residents with the ideal opportunity to relax and take in the beauty of the world.
To indulge in the spirit of the day, community members gathered at Fernwood Sports Grounds for a two-hour yoga session.
The weather was perfect and allowed the yogis to have a session closer to nature, while they breathed in fresh morning air.
Yoga instructor, Ashitha Beeharie, explained yoga was an interesting and fun way to stay fit and healthy.
“Some of the moves may be hard for first-time members, but after a while it becomes easier and you notice what a huge impact it has on your health,” she said.
She added that yoga was in a way spiritual to some, but for others it was an easy way of improving health and finding extra energy that a person would not normally have.
“Yoga has become widespread because daily, people are realising the benefits it provides.”
Mrs Beeharie invited the community to attend the yoga sessions she hosts every Monday through to Thursday.
These sessions are free, and are conducted at the Fernwood Multipurpose Centre every Monday and Wednesday, and at the Ward 3 War Room every Tuesday and Thursday.
