Qomkufa Security guards foiled a scaffolding robbery and recovered 24 pieces of scaffolding support poles on June 15.
The scaffolding consisted of 16 x 3 metre lengths and 8 x 1.8 metre lengths.
This comes after two men were seen carrying the bounty that was stolen from a construction company on the new Majuba College campus, into a bush adjacent to the site.
The guards noticed this illicit behaviour and contacted Qomkufa Security (who are the night guards at the premises). Qomkufa Security’s operational manager and senior inspector promptly responded and gave chase.
The two thieves ran towards the golf course. Hot on their tail, the two employees of Qomkufa Security abandoned their vehicle and gave chase on foot.
The pursuit continued and the operations manager and the senior inspector soon drove the robbers back towards the golf course and onto the road. They were swiftly apprehended there.
After apprehending the suspects, a passing police vehicle was flagged down and the robbers were arrested. The remaining scaffolding was found hidden along the railway line.
The two men have since been charged and have appeared in the Dundee Magistrates Court.
