Battlefields tours to go ‘moonlighting’

The historic battles of Spioenkop, Rorke's Drift and the deaths of Melville and Coghill at Fugitive's Drift will be commemorated by hosting a series of full moon tours.

Talana Museum is going to be doing some moonlighting next year. The historic battles of Spioenkop, Rorke’s Drift and the deaths of Melville and Coghill at Fugitive’s Drift will be commemorated by hosting a series of full moon tours.
“Full moon is at 3:46am on January 24 2016. That day is the anniversary of the battle of Spioenkop. Rorke’s Drift is a few days earlier but the moon will be nearly full and as long as there are not too many clouds, the light should be fine for a different look at these battle sites,” said Pam McFadden, curator of Talana Museum.
She added that the novel tours have already attracted attention from tour operators and battlefields enthusiasts.
