Vryheid learners explore careers through practical activities

Harpo Primary School learners explored career opportunities and showcased their creative talents through practical activities and arts.

Harpo Primary School recently hosted its Career Simulation and Creative Arts Exhibition.

Exploring different career opportunities

Under the leadership of subject teachers Mr Mhlungu and Mr Kubeka, the programme was designed to provide learners with meaningful exposure to diverse career opportunities, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about subject selection and combinations from Grade 10 to 12.

Through simulation activities, learners engaged with practical demonstrations of professions in fields such as law, health, engineering, agriculture, sports and entrepreneurship.

Celebrating creativity and artistic talent

In addition, the Creative Arts department showcased learners’ talents through dance and visual arts, highlighting the role of creativity in career development.

According to the educators, this exhibition not only celebrated artistic expression but also emphasised the importance of innovation and cultural identity in shaping future career pathways.

Preparing learners for the future

“The initiative reflects the principles of Project Based Learning, ensuring that learners gain hands-on experience and real-world insights. By broadening exposure, Harpo Primary School aims to empower learners to make career choices from an informed perspective, laying a strong foundation for their academic and professional journeys.

“This event stands as a testament to the school’s commitment to its motto: Serve, Work and Succeed.”
