Suspects arrested for possession of mandrax and dagga

Madadeni Crime Prevention and Provincial Task Team conducted a search operation on June 22 after a tip-off about a man selling drugs at his house in Madadeni Section 3.

The police found 434 Mandrax tablets and three small plastic bags filled with dagga. Police estimated street value of the drugs at R 26 610. Two suspects aged 30 and 47 were arrested for possession of illegal drugs.

The suspects were detained at Madadeni Police Station and appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on June 23.

The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni congratulated Madadeni police and Provincial Task Team for the arrest and the effort they put in combating crime in the area.

“We are always pleased when we remove drugs off our streets, as we know that we are minimising the effects of drugs on our society,” she said.
