The Vryheid Hospital has admitted that there are indeed shortages in their medications but they would also like to assure community members that they are doing all they can to ensure no patient goes home untreated.
“It is quite true that there are dire shortages with medication in the province and nationally. We have been trying every effort to ensure that medicine is available for everybody at all times,” read an email which was sent to the Vryheid Herald by the Hospital’s media liaison Nqobile Mbatha today.
She went on to say that in terms of pain relief medication, they can assure the community that at the hospital pharmacy, they have never run out of Brufen and Tramadol (both pain relief medication), which would be prescribed by a doctor.
“ In an event where the prescribed medication is not available, an alternative is prescribed,” she said in conclusion.
