Camera, lights, action in Glencoe

So if you fancy yourself as a movie extra be at the Spar Centre at 10m on Friday. Men, women, children and even a boy band are needed for the movie.

Glencoe is set to transform itself into Glen Wood when a production company moves into town to make a movie.

Auditions for extras are to be held on July 3 from 10am to midday at the Glencoe Spar Centre and already locals are clamouring for a part in the racy titled ‘Spykerspruit’.

Audrey Menelaou said despite the name, Spykerspruit is ‘certainly not a blue movie’ but an Afrikaans romantic comedy featuring life in a small town.

One of the scriptwriters, Hendrik Berg, grew up in Glencoe and is ‘fully qualified’ to put together a story about small town life. Hendrik has become well known within the local film industry.

“The production company, Grip, is also committed to the restoration of various historical buildings in the area. They have also done much work to rehabilitate drug users and have also produced a documentary exposing the horrors of child trafficking.”

Shooting will start in September. So if you fancy yourself as a movie extra be at the Spar Centre at 10m on Friday.
Men, women, children and even a boy band are needed for the movie.

Martin Nel, also a former Glencoe resident and now a presenter on All-Time Radio in the Cape, will be doing a ‘live show’ from the Centre.

He is well known for his morning programme, Rewind.
